லெந்து காலத்தின் பதினாராம் நாள் தியானம்

திருமறைப் பகுதி: தூய யோவான் 14:27-28

தம்முடைய சீடரிடம் விடை பெறுகிற இயேசு இறுதியில் ‘என்னுடைய சமாதானத்தை உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிறேன், என்று சொல்லுகிறார். இது இறையருள் வேண்டும் வளமான வாழ்த்துதல். போகிற போக்கில் “GOODBYE” என்று நாம் சொல்வது போல் இல்லை, சூறாவளி சூழலிலும் அவர் அனுபவித்த ஆழ்ந்த அமைதியை சீடரின் பங்காக்குகிறார். பிதாவில் கொண்ட முழு நம்பிக்கையின் விளைவாக அவருடைய திட்டத்திற்கு இயேசு தன்னை முற்றிலும் அர்ப்பணித்த பொழுது அவரைத் தாங்கின சமாதானம் இது. சீடர்களின் உள்ளத்திலிருந்த கலக்கத்தையும் அச்சத்தையும் போக்குவதற்கு இந்தச் சமாதானத்தை இயேசு கையளிக்கிறார். தங்களுடைய உள்ளத்தின் அமைதிக்காக மட்டுமல்ல அகில உலகத்தின் சமாதானத்திற்காகவும் சீடர்கள் பொறுப்பேற்க இயேசு எதிர்பார்க்கிறார். சமாதானம் கடவுள் நமக்காக தரும் ஈவும் மட்டுமல்ல, மற்றவர்களுக்காக நம்மிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்ட பொறுப்பும்கூட. இயேசு சீடருக்கு இருவிதத்தில் மகிழ்சியூட்டுகிறார்.

தங்கை, தம்பி, சமாதானம் என்றால் என்ன? ஆழ்மனதிலே அனுபவிக்கும் இனிமையான உணர்வு மட்டும் தானா? சமுதாய அமைப்பிலே நிலவ வேண்டிய இணக்கத்தைப்பற்றி என்ன நினைக்கிறீர்கள்? உனக்கு சமாதானமளிக்கும் இயேசு உன்னிடம் என்ன எதிர்பார்க்கிறார்? நீ இயேசுவை நேசித்தால், அவர் உன்னைவிட்டு தம் பிதாவினிடத்திற்கு போகும்போது அவருக்காக சந்தோஷப்படுவாயா?

இயேசுவே, என் சமாதானப் பிரபுவே, என் இதயத்தின் கலக்கத்தையும் அச்சத்தையும் விரட்டியடிக்க நீர் தந்த சமாதானத்திற்காக நன்றி. நான் உம்மை நேசிக்கிறேன் உமக்காக மகிழுகிறேன். நம் பிதாவின் வீட்டில் என்னை நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்க.

இயேசுவின் பதில்…….
குழந்தாய், “சமாதான பிரபு” என்றுதானே சொன்னாய். அந்த பேர் எனக்கு பிடித்திருக்கு. நான் பிறந்தபொழுதே தூதர்கள் சமாதானம் பற்றி பாடினார்கள். நான் உனக்கு சமாதானம் தருகிறேன். நீ சமாதானத்தை உனக்குள்ளே அனுபவி; 
உலகோருக்கு பகிர்ந்து கொடு.

Devotion for the sixteenth day in Lent (Saturday)

Read John 14:27-28

At the close of his farewell speech Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you”. It is not an empty farewell greeting said without realizing the meaning like the “good-bye” we say today which actually means “God be with you!” The peace that Jesus gives is transferring the tranquility he experienced in the midst of all the turmoil around him. It sustained his spirit when he trusted God wholeheartedly and submitted to God’s will totally. Jesus offers this peace to the disciples to dispel the anxiety and fear from their hearts. The disciples were to receive this peace not just to calm down their troubled and frightened hearts but also to be peace-makers and peace-keepers. Peace is given both as possession and mission. Jesus also infuses joy in the disciples for two reasons. He asks them to be happy for themselves because he was returning to them. He also asks them to be happy for Jesus because he is going to be with his Father. This he demands based on their love for him.
Sister/ Brother! What is peace? Is it just a comfortable personal feeling within? What about peace as a social phenomenon? If God gives you peace, what does he expect you to do? If you love Jesus, can you be happy for Jesus if he leaves you to be with his father?

Prayer:
Jesus, my prince of peace! Thank you for the gift of your peace to chase away anxiety and fear from my heart. I love you and am happy for you. Remember me in our Father’s place.

Jesus might say…..
My child, Did you say prince of peace? I like it. “Peace among men” was part of the angelic singing at my birth. I give you peace; experience peace in you and promote peace among people.
