லெந்து காலத்தின் இருபத்தி ஐந்தாம் நாள்
திருமறைப் பகுதி: தூய யோவான் 16:1-4
இயேசு சரியான நேரம் பார்த்து சீடர்களுக்கு நிகழவிருக்கின்ற துன்புறுத்தலைப் பற்றி எச்சரிக்கிறார். (16:1) தமது சீடர்களின் விசுவாசம் குலைந்து விடாமலும் (16:4) அவர் பிரிவினாலே அவர்கள் சோர்ந்து போகாமலும் இருக்க தான் விடை பெறும் வேளையில் இதைச் சொல்கிறார். சமயப் புறக்கணிப்பு, தனிமைப்படுத்துதல் மட்டுமல்ல, சமயத் தீவிரவாத கொலையும்கூட “அவர்களால்” நிகழலாம் என்று இயேசு தமது சீடர்களை எச்சரிக்கிறார். யார் அந்த ”அவர்கள்”? இயேசு ஏன் ”அவர்கள்” யாரென்று குறிப்பிடவில்லை? அவரையும், அவருடைய சீடர்களையும் கொடூரமாக புறக்கணித்தவர்களின் செயலுக்கு இயேசு எவ்வளவு பெருந்தன்மையோடு விளக்கமளிக்கிறார்! பிதாவையும் குமானையும் பற்றிய அறியாமையே (16:3, 15:21) இதற்கு காரணம் என்கிறார். இந்த அவருடைய காருண்யத்தின் உன்னத வெளிப்பாட்டைத் தானே சிலுவையில் கண்டோம். ”பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும் தாஙகள் செய்வது இன்னதென்று அறியாதிருக்கிறார்களே” என்றல்லவா அவர் ஜெபித்தார்.
அன்பு தங்கை/தம்பி! உனக்குத் தீமை செய்தவர்களை மன்னிப்பதற்காக அவர்களுக்குச் சாதகமான காரணங்களை நீ கனிவுடன் நினைத்ததுண்டா? அவர்களுடைய இடத்திலிருந்து பார்த்து அவர்களைப் புரிந்துகொண்டு அவர்களுக்காக ”பிதாவே இவர்களுக்கு மன்னியும்” என்று ஜெபித்தது உண்டா?
ஜெபம்:
எப்பொழுதும் மன்னிக்கிற இயேசுவே, என்னுடைய நிலைமையை புரிந்துகொள்ள நீர் மனுக்கோலமெடுத்தீர். நான் மற்றவர்களை புரிந்துகொள்ளாமல் எவ்வளவு துரிதமாக அவர்களை குற்றவாளிகள் என்று தீர்த்துக்கட்டி விடுகிறேன்! என்னை மன்னியும், மன்னிக்க எனக்கு கற்றுத்தாரும்.
இயேசுவின் பதில்…….
என் குழந்தாய், இது ஒரு சிறந்த ஜெபம்! ஒர் இரகசியம் சொல்லவா? நான் உன்னை நேசித்தது போல நீயும் நேசி, அவ்வளவுதான்! கருணையுள்ளவனா/ளாயிரு. ஏனெனில் அனைவருமே உன்னுடைய கருணைக்கு தகுதியுள்ளவர்கள் தான், நான் உன்னை மன்னித்தேன் ஆகவே நீயும் பிறரை மன்னித்துவிடு.
Devotion for the twenty fifth day in Lent
Read John 16:1-4
Jesus strategically times the teaching about persecution to strengthen the disciples in their faith (16:1), to sustain them when he will no more be with them (16:4). He talks to them about an impending excommunication, isolation and even death by “them”. Who are they? Why did Jesus not specify “them”? Jesus has the generosity to recognize their ignorance of the Father (16:3 and 15:21) as the root cause of their ruthless rejection of him and his disciples. The supreme expression of this compassion we see at the cross when he asked the Father to forgive them for the same reason, “They know not what they do!”
Dear sister/brother! Have you ever thought of a reason in favour of those who offend you so that you may forgive them? Have you tried to be in their shoes first to understand their situation and then pray for their folly, “Father, forgive them”?
Prayer:
Ever forgiving Jesus, you became human to understand my situation. How much I fail to understand others and how quickly I misjudge them! Forgive me and teach me to forgive.
Jesus might say…..
My child, I like your prayer! The secret is to love just as I have loved you! Be gracious because every person deserves it. Forgive because I forgave you.
